The Ferrocontrol E°Darc C04S is the drive controller with safety controller in the 4 A power class from the E°Darc C drive system by Ferrocontrol (Eckelmann). It operates on the 560 V DC link of an E°Darc Pxx supply module, controls current, speed and position fully digitally and drives the feed and positioning axes with synchronous and linear motors in window and profile machining centres.

For machine operators
If your window or profile machining centre reports a fault on the drive controller, you will find the type designation on the black front cover and the part number on the nameplate on the left-hand side of the housing. Function within the E°Darc system
The control uses FPGA technology: current, speed and position controllers are computed in parallel, which gives high dynamics and good machining quality. The switching frequency can be selected in four steps. The option cards plug into the top of the unit: two encoder modules (slots A and B) and one fieldbus module (slot C), usually CANopen in window-making machinery. Setpoints and diagnostics travel via the fieldbus to the machine control; commissioning and diagnostics are carried out with E°Tools Drive. Extensive monitoring – short circuit, overvoltage, temperature, encoder, following error and I²t – protects controller and motor.

Safety controller module (yellow cover)
The S version is equipped with the safety controller module and, in addition to Safe Torque Off (STO), provides the extended safety functions to DIN EN 61800-5-2: Safe Stop 1 and 2 (SS1, SS2), Safe Operating Stop (SOS), Safely Limited Speed (SLS), Safely Limited Position (SLP), Safe Direction (SDI), Safe Brake Control (SBC) and Safe Speed Monitor (SSM). The safety parameters are entered in the safe editor of E°Tools and confirmed with the E°SCD operating unit. Safe position values are supplied by an EnDat 2.2 Functional Safety encoder module. The safety module is married to the serial number of the controller – in the event of a defect the complete controller is always replaced.
