The Ferrocontrol FB IN16-1 Elumatec is an input module of the CNC fieldbus system with 16 galvanically isolated digital inputs. It picks up the signals from sensors, proximity switches and switches at the machine and makes them available to the control via the fieldbus.

Function in the CNC fieldbus system
The Ferrocontrol CNC fieldbus system is a decentralised control: the input and output modules are located directly at the machine instead of centrally in the control cabinet and are connected to the control computer via a two-wire line. Up to eight modules are grouped via 26-pin header connectors (P1 from the previous module, P2 to the next module) on a fieldbus node FBK or a fieldbus axis computer FBUR; the modules are detected and addressed automatically, no configuration on the module is required.

Connection and indication
The 16 inputs are on plug-in block terminals 0 to 15 directly on the module, so intermediate terminals in the control cabinet are not needed. A green LED shows the switching state of each input, another LED the supply voltage. The supply voltage for the connected sensors and proximity switches (3-wire connection) is provided on the upper terminal row and is protected by a 3.15 A medium time-lag fuse.
